About
Jimmy Ke is an illustrator based in Vancouver B.C, who recently graduated from Rhode Island School of Design. He is capable of producing work with traditional and digital media.
Jimmy has an interest in zoology and ecology and is obsessed with figuring out how things work in order to illustrate them quickly and believably. Jimmy’s work centres around the development of believable fiction. While his illustrations feature subjects far removed from reality they operate (or at least ought to operate) according to internal, self-consistent logic. Therefore, despite being capricious and fantastical, they possess veracity and behave as phantoms of life. Consequently, knowledge and appreciation of disciplines pertaining to Biology and Geology inform Jimmy’s creative process.
Jimmy’s work derives from creature development, which informs his other creative processes. Although Jimmy is most familiar with creature illustration, he is fairly comfortable with environment art, and he is working to improve his knowledge of human anatomy. He is always learning more about various Hypotheses and Theories pertaining to natural history and rigorously incorporating new scientific information into his work.
